2020 was in the glow of Covid-19 an eventful year for DeiC.

The DeiC activity that has been most affected by the pandemic is without a doubt the video service Zoom.

The version of Zoom, which is offered to universities and institutions, has thus experienced homework up close. In connection with the repatriations in March 2020, there was an explosion in the number of users, and for the whole year, it became more than 15 million meeting hours.

DKCERT has just published its annual trend report. A report, which is partly DKCERT's report on the past year, and partly DKCERT's bid for the trends we expect to be prevalent.

The report begins with a brief view of the cyber situation picture that DKCERT has observed over the past year. This is followed by an assessment of the threats to the university and research sector. This, the threat assessment, is mostly aimed at the sector and indicates that the threat from cyber espionage, crime and insiders against the sector is very high.

It has become common to systematically use automated speech-to-text tools for many purposes.

It can be documentation of interviews you have conducted in a research project, or it can be texting teaching videos automatically. The latter has also become a requirement.

In 2021, universities will share some licenses with KONCH, and it has become an option to purchase AmberScript for DeiC's Kaltura service.

The University of Reykjavík (RU) has just joined WAYF (Where Are You From) as a user organization. With this, employees and students at RU now have access to identify themselves as such to a large number of web services in both WAYF and eduGAIN.

With the DeiC service Kaltura you can keep track of all your media files and present them exactly as you wish. The solution thus handles the storage, handling and viewing of video and media files.

Once your organization has subscribed to Kaltura, you can, for example, use the system for hosting (teaching) video in a similar way as it does on YouTube.

When Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen held a press conference in the Mirror Hall on 11 March 2020, it was probably the few who had a feeling that the next many months would offer teaching and work from home via digital solutions.

A very concrete example of the upheaval is the number of users of DeiC's Zoom solution, which exploded within quite a few days after the press conference. In the following three months, the number of meeting hours ranged from less than 7,000 to 2,000,000 hours.

The list of dealers of Infrastructure-as-a-service for the education and research area in Denmark has just been put in place and published.

These are a wide range of solutions, consisting of both the global hyperscalers such as Microsoft, Amazon and Google, and a number of more specialized cloud solutions, which are called OIP (Original Infrastructure Providers). These cover resellers with self-developed platforms.
